At the Razumovsky Palace

The chamber music series "At Prince Razumovsky's Palace"—Beethoven Op. 59 accompanied by Haydn and Mozart.

"At Prince Razumovsky's Palace" is an original series of three concerts held at the Rybna Palace from April to November 2015.

The performer for the series was the Akademos Quartet, which specializes in interpreting Beethoven's quartets—the central focus of the series' programs (highlighted by their participation in the elite workshop at Carnegie Hall in New York: "The ESQ Workshop: Beethoven Quartets"). The concept of the project was based on an attempt to reconstruct the famous concerts held at Prince Razumovsky's Palace, which were tied to the formation of the first permanent string quartet and the creation of Beethoven's finest works (starting with Op. 59). The fascinating, multifaceted context of that era provided an opportunity to present the audience with a uniquely rich cultural endeavor. The concert programs featured works by Ludwig van Beethoven (all three "Razumovsky" quartets from Op. 59—No. 1 in F major, No. 2 in E minor, and No. 3 in C major) as well as the finest string quartets by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, alongside top 20th-century classical works that continue Beethoven's legacy—a benchmark and unsurpassed model for all subsequent composers.

The "themed concerts" organized by the Silesian Musical Society and their reception among Silesian audiences reflect a strong readiness and demand for specialized chamber music concerts that offer a compelling artistic experience. This project answered the local community's need for high-culture initiatives, enriching and broadening the regional cultural landscape. The excellent attendance across all concerts in the series and their warm reception led to an invitation for the Silesian Musical Society to deliver a regular concert series in 2016.
